Syltoria gets behind Breast Cancer and supports the Joanne Mackay Foundation - Jo's Helping Hand.

May 2019

With sister Julia being touched personally by Breast Cancer, Syltoria Hair Glamour wanted to give back to the community and support the Joanne Mackay Breast Cancer Foundtion.

Organised by Joanne's daughter Bria and good friend Leanne, the event was a great success and they raised thousands for Jo's Helping Hand.

The Joanne Mackay Foundation is a unique charity that helps women going through this disease by helping pay their bills. Unlike other charity's, 100% of funds raised goes directly to the charity.

Syltoria Rally's to Save Cronulla's Women's Rest Centre Again!

17th April 2017

Back in the Spotlight again this year is the Women’s Rest Centre at Cronulla.

Syltoria Hair Glamour is very passionate about keeping this ICONIC Building and Safe Haven for Families, Women and Children to use, and not to have it demolished as per the wishes of the Current Sutherland Shire Council.

To help get behind this cause, Syltoria Hair Glamour again joined other local Cronulla businesses, retailers and the community, to support another campaign run by Annette Hogan to save this centre.losure.

The Council have already started to cut the working hours of the staff which we are not happy with, as the ladies cannot give the same friendly service as they normally do. We are concerned that this is the Sutherland Shire Council’s way of closing the centre for good.

Founder of Syltoria Hair Glamour, Sylvana says "It would be sad to see a part of history taken away, for the sake of the council saving a few dollars. I remember as a young girl using this centre, when I started my hair dressing career in Cronulla Plaza over 40 years ago. It just wouldn't be the same without it".

"Cronulla Businesses are already suffering enough with traffic figures being down, taking the centre away, is just another hit below the belt. The Council need to be supporting local business in the area, not giving customers another reason to shop elsewhere", Sylvana added.

To read the full article and vote to save the Centre, please go to:

Unfortunately we didn’t win, but it was rewarding being acknowledged as an outstanding hair salon in Australia.

Syltoria Shares a Cuppa for Cancer

30th May 2016

For the 5th year in a row, on Friday 27th May, Syltoria Hair Glamour had the honor of being part of Cronulla’s Biggest Morning Tea again.

This annual event run by Julie Giovenco, Mirella Carbone and Teresa Strain and Committee members was a major success raising a massive $30,000 for the NSW Cancer Council.

The event attracted over 500 locals, and even Sutherland Shire Mayor, Carmelo Pesce shared a cuppa with Syltoria Hair Glamour on the day.

Syltoria Hair Glamour was proud to be a sponsor again of this event, and also a member of the Biggest Morning Tea Cronulla Committee.

Our own Julia, after having being diagnosed with Breast Cancer 2 years ago, is a strong supporter of this Charity and helps out where she can.

Check out Julia with representatives of the NSW Cancer Council, Sutherland Shire Mayor Carmelo Pesce, and Channel 7 Sports Reporter, Jim Wilson.

Syltoria Hair Glamour turns Cronulla Plaza in a Makeshift Salon!

16th March 2016

Syltoria Hair Glamour turned the Cronulla Plaza Centre Stage into temporary Hair Salon, when they arranged their own World's Greatest Shave event on Saturday 13th March.

Syltoria Hair Glamour raised over $4500, but it was more amazing seeing our youngest Shaver, little Luca who was only 17months, shave all his hair off for charity.

Luca had a huge heart and was so brave raising $1700 online by himself for the Leukaemia Foundation.

He was even more excited when his hero, Cronulla Shark's Captain Paul Gallen actually was the Celebrity Shaver who got the honor of shaving this locks.

Great job Paul Gallen and Syltoria Hair Glamour for arranging this event with the help of ARTvertise Promotions.

Glenn Wheeler Shaves Paul Gallen's Head For  Charity!

13th  March  2016

You cannot get any more local Cronulla talent than this on one stage, and all in the name of raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation.

On the 12th March 2016, Syltoria Hair Glamour held their own World's Greatest Shave event on Cronulla Plaza Main Stage.

A BIG thank you to Cronulla Sharks and NSW Blues Captain, Paul Gallen and to our local celebrities Glenn Wheeler and Sutherland Shire Mayor Carmelo Pesce for giving up their time to be part of this annual event.

Glenn Wheeler was fantastic and took great pleasure in SHAVING Paul Gallen’s hair. He was such a good sport and loved being up on the stage with the mic, he was loving being back in the limelight.  It was such a great thing for the Cronulla Community and Syltoria Hair Glamour is proud to raise funds and run this fabulous charity event.

A fun time was had by all, especially when the Mayor took the chair and had his hair painted by Cronulla Sharks Captain Paul Gallen.

And what colour do you think the Sharks Captain painted the Mayor, BLACK WHITE & BLUE of course.

The event was a huge success and generated a lot of interest in the Local and Social Media. We ended up raising a whopping $4,639 from our World's Greatest Shave Event and our Online Shavers. This is $1300 more than last year.

Thank you to everyone who came down and coloured, shaved or even just donated. Also thank you to the local businesses who supported us with prizes especially Ascendance Academy,  Cronulla Curves, Mad Mex, Priceline, Frangapani Gelato, Fingertipz, Essentials for Home, Mamm International and East Coast Asethetics.

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea

29th May 2015

We all know someone, or have family who have been directly affected by Cancer. It’s a sad fact but 1 in 3 Australian’s will get Cancer sometime in the lives.

After being personally affect by cancer last year, our own Marketing guru, Julia Spiteri became a member of the Cronulla Biggest Morning Tea Committee to help raise money for this wonderful cause.

Syltoria Hair Glamour was also happy to be a part of this event again, and raise funds by selling merchandise and show bags. This was our 4th year involved with the charity and we ended up raising and donating over $500 for the Cancer Council.

The Cronulla Biggest Morning Tea event is the 3rd largest in NSW and attracts a lot of celebrities. Syltoria Hair Glamour was lucky to rub shoulders with Channel 7's Jim Wilson and Ready Steady Cook's, Janelle Bloom again as they competed in the annual Celebrity Cake Decorating competition. This year, Jim, through the crowd vote won the cake competition.

Syltoria Hair Glamour added a new dimension to this event this year, by donating a signed Cronulla Sharks Jersey and holding an LIVE auction with Dane Wheeler from Highland Property Group. Dane is the son of TV and Radio Personality, Glenn Wheeler. The Auction was a huge success and added $3,000 to the tally.

Overall this was the most successful Biggest Morning Tea to date for Committee Organisers Julie Giovenco, Mirella Carbone and Teresa Strain. A MASSIVE $26,500 was raised and over 450 people attended the event.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, COSMETICS!  Syltoria Hair Glamour had the pleasure of styling all the Beautiful Benefit Cosmetic ladies for their "Roller Lash Mascara Launch" at their VIP event at Hinky Dinks in Darlinghurst on 26th March 2015.

The event was strictly invitation only and for all the VIP Benefit BLOGGERS. A fun night was had by all VIPs, and the Benefit Brand was at the forefront of it all. What a great way to launch ROLLER LASH, such a pretty curl.

Benefit Cosmetics is a cosmetic manufacturer founded in 1976 by twins Jean and Jane Ford in San Francisco, California. The brand is now known internationally and is popular in the Australian market.

Syltoria Hair Glamour was honored to be invited to style for the event.  Our own Victoria stuck to a traditional Vintage Roller look for the girls, which was right on brief! Check out some of the action with these Behind the Scenes styling shots.

The World's Greatest Shave

14th March 2015

It’s an astounding statistic but 31 Australian’s are diagnosed everyday with blood cancer, commonly known as Leukaemia! Leukaemia is the 3rd most common cause of cancer death and it kills more people than breast cancer and melanoma.

Cancer has become so common in today’s society and the scary thing is that there is still no proper cure. The most common treatment for this disease is Chemotherapy, which causes baldness as a side effect.

Our own Marketing Director, Julia Spiteri knows how it feels to go through Chemotherapy and be bald, as she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in Oct 2013.

To normalise baldness and help give back to the community, Syltoria Hair Glamour held a SHAVE EVENT on Saturday 14th March on the Cronulla Plaza Main Stage. The Shave event was a huge success, and the salon was able to raise over $3,300 for the Leukaemia Foundation.

We had such a good turn out and there was always someone in the chair either shaving or colouring their head. It was a fun day for the whole family and Julia was even able to secure a few celebrity shavers.

Special thanks to the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks for their support of the event and for David Fifita and Valentine Holmes for giving up their time and shaving for this wonder cause.

Also thanks to Mad Mex for donating a FREE BURRITO to everyone who shaved and Cronulla Curves for providing Zumba Entertainment for the event.

We love working and living in Cronulla. On the 7th Feb 2015, Syltoria Hair Glamour supported our Cronulla Chamber of Commerce and celebrated 100 years of surfing in this fabulous Shire.

Can you believe it has been 100 years since DUKE KAHANAMOKU rode his surfboard at Cronulla beach? What an amazing part of Cronulla history for our business to be a part of.

The event was well attended and supported by local businesses and the Major of Sutherland Shire Council. The event had raffles, live auctions, silent auctions and all proceeds went towards support local junior surf clubs.

North Cronulla Surf Club were the lucky winners of a painting of the DUKE after his surf and handstand display at Cronulla beach in 1915.

Our own Co-founder, Sylvana even got in on the action, checking out an exact replica of "THE DUKES" board.

Curves Girls' Night In!

31st October 2014

On Friday night, the team at Syltoria Hair Glamour got their PINK on, and participated in the Cronulla Curves Girl’s Night In. Co-Owner Sylvana really got in the spirit of the event, and traded her traditional hair style for a smokin’ hot pink bob wig!

A fun night and spooky night was had by all as it happened to be Halloween. Gym owner Kim Stoffels did a wonderful job, and is very passionate about raising money for this worthy cause.

We even ran a Product Stall and donated $5 from every sale to raise money for women with Breast Cancer.

We loved being a part of it, and will see you all next year.

Joanne Mackay Annual Breast Cancer Luncheon

27th October 2014

Having a family member go through cancer is tough, but it’s even tougher when you have to do it on your own with not much support. This is where the Joanne Mackay Foundation step in and help those who may be suffering alone or having trouble financially.

Joanne Mackay was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 36. She had just given birth to her third child Tully who was only 10 weeks old when Jo first noticed a lump in her left breast. After a series of tests she was diagnosed with grade 3 aggressive breast cancer. In 2001, Jo underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy. Whilst undergoing her treatment time was spent talking about the effects breast cancer has on families and friends and what could be done to help these women. And so the Joanne Mackay Breast Cancer Foundation was formed in 2001, also known as "Jo's Helping Hand". This foundation aims to assist women and their families regain control of their lives during the treatment of this disease.

The Foundation is amazing and helps patients and their families with their basic day to day struggles e.g. housework, transport, paying of medical/utility bills. They buy wigs and prosthetic breasts and have often been happy to help with one off requests from patients who are truly in need.

Since our Marketing Director Julia was diagnosed, Syltoria Hair Glamour has been very active in supporting this Annual Event. We donated a $500 hamper, and 10% off vouchers for everyone who came on the day. The event was attended by over 400 ladies, and raised 10’s of thousands of dollars for the Foundation. All the ladies had a wonderful time, especially when the special guest, Mr Tom Jones made an appearance on stage.

On the 14th and 15th of September, we celebrated our 3rd Birthday at the Cronulla Spring Fair. After weeks of rain, it didn’t look like it was going to hold out for Cronulla’s Annual Spring Event.

Courtney's Classic Wedding

30th August 2014

We were honoured when our beautiful customer Courtney asked Syltoria Hair Glamour to style her hair and the entire bridal party for her dream wedding.

Victoria has been doing Courtney and her sisters Leona and Jadee’s hair for over 6 years now. All are customers of the salon, so it made it that extra bit special for us. The girls are part of the family, and we were excited to be part of their wedding too.

So the team left home at 4am and headed down to Camden for a classical country style wedding. It was quite foggy on the way down, but once the fog lifted, it ended up being a spectacular sunny day. Courtney couldn’t have asked for better weather.

We were joined by the very talented Melissa Sassine, who complimented the hair with stunning make-up. http://www.melissa-sassine.com.

By the time the photographer arrived, the girls all looked absolutely amazing. Courntey's vintage style dress and hair, resembled that of the beautiful Marilyn Monroe.

The bride was so thrilled, she thanked us with these kind words:

“Thank you so much to Victoria from Syltoria for creating my perfect bridal hair! Not only was my hair absolutely perfect and exactly what I asked for, Victoria and Julia were invaluable on the day. They went above and beyond the role as hair stylists and we're the biggest help in so many ways. Thanks for putting up with the chaos and helping me to stay calm! You were both amazing and I truly am grateful you were a part of my special day! Thanks so much ladies!”

Our Youngest Customer has her first hair cut in style.

23rd August 2014

Whether you’re 1 or 101, you know that at Syltoria Hair Glamour we will cater for your needs.

Our youngest customer, little Danielle found that out when her mother took her for her first hair cut on a busy Saturday morning in the salon. Usually kids are quite scared when the see the scissors coming towards them, but not our little Danielle. She was absolutely adorable and loved every minute of her pampering salon experience.

Danielle smiled and laughed through the whole haircut, she was our best behaved child so far. She enjoyed looking at her children’s book and have a babycino, while stylist Tearne cut and styled her hair.

For being such a good girl, she was given a free gift, and also took away her baby locks in a little bag, to keep as a memento.

Syltoria supports the "Touch of Pink Benefit Ball" for Breast Cancer

8th August 2014

On Friday 8th August, the team at Syltoria Hair Glamour attended the inaugural “Touch of Pink Benefit Ball”, in aid of raising money for the Breast Cancer Nurses at St George Hospital.

We were very honoured to be a part of this special event, as we touched by this disease last year, when our very own Marketing Guru, Julia Spiteri was diagnosed with a Grade 3 Breast Cancer.

This event was put on by one of our lovely customers Gabby Brown and her friend Tamara, as this disease has touched both their families as well.

Syltoria Hair Glamour kindly donated over $200 worth of HAIR SERVICES and PRODUCTS for this wonderful event with over 300 people attending. Not only did the girls raise over $12,000, but it was a fun night for all with great food, entertainment and atmosphere.

We will definitely be attending next year. Such a wonderful cause, and we urge all other businesses to also show your support.

Over to the residents to design suburb's future look.

27th June 2014

As an active member of the Cronulla Chamber of Commerce, Syltoria Hair Glamour is interested in the future re-development of Cronulla Plaza.

We have been joining forces with other Chamber members, Mayor Steve Simpson, locals and other Cronulla businesses to work out what is best for our community to attract more customers and enviably increase retail sales for everyone.

Being a seaside suburb, Cronulla is beautiful place to not only live, but to visit and shop. However, the current plaza, is starting to look dated, and with the new Westfield Miranda opening in later 2014/early 2015, we need to give our shopping area a facelift, so customers have a reason to come to Cronulla again.

Sharing a Cuppa and Cake with Celebs at the Biggest Morning Tea.

14th May 2014

Cancer has become such a common disease, even though our medical research has improved, there is still no proper cure. Early detection is the key, but for those who catch this disease late, it is a quick and silent killer.

We all know someone, or have family who have been directly affected by this horrible disease. So when Syltoria Hair Glamour were asked to donate again to Cronulla’s Biggest Morning Tea, they didn't hesitate to help this wonderful and worthy cause.

This was the 3rd year in a row that Syltoria Hair Glamour had donated to this cause. But this year it was even more special as our own Marketing guru, Julia Spiteri, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in Oct 2013.

While still undergoing chemotherapy, Julia was determined to give back to the local community, and wanted Syltoria Hair Glamour to play a bigger role in donating to this charity. Julia arranged a table at Cronulla's Biggest Morning Tea on 14th May 2014, where she sold Syltoria Show bags which contained a $20 Hair Brush and a $20 voucher. These bags which had $40 value, were sold for $5.

Syltoria Hair Glamour raised over $300 in show bags, and also donated an additional $300 in products and services, totalling a donation of over $600 for the Cancer Council.

Syltoria Hair Glamour was lucky to rub shoulders with Channel 7's Jim Wilson and Ready Steady Cook's, Janelle Bloom, when our very own Julia Spiteri was picked out of the audience to participate in the Celebrity Cake Decorating competition.

A big thank you to Biggest Morning Tea Organisers, Julie Giovenco, Mirella Carbone and Teresa Strain for putting on this wonderful event and raising over $22,000 for the Cancer Council. The event attracted over 400 people and even the immigration minister, Scott Morrison also visited and shared a cuppa.

"Two Blokes", a stylist and a hair salon.

3rd May 2014

You’ve all heard of the show “Two girls, a guy and a pizza place”! Well in Cronulla it’s “Two Blokes”, a stylist and a hair salon!

Syltoria Hair Glamour supported the ”Two Blokes”, Darren Skuse and Matt Marris, as they drove in the SHITBOX RALLY from Darwin to Perth, to raise money for Children’s cancer. Darren lost his leg to cancer when he was only 17 years old, and Matt also had cancer of the pancreas. Since being personally affected by by cancer, the “Two Blokes” have been motivated to raise money for children’s cancer. Every year they enter their car in the SHITBOX RALLY and get people to sponsor them. This year their target was $10,000, and with their guts and determination they got there.

What is a SHITBOX RALLY, you may ask? I asked the same question as we weren’t sure if it was something we wanted to be part of. But the “Two Blokes” explained that you can only drive in a car that is valued at $1000 or under.

Syltoria Hair Glamour both donated money and auction gifts for this wonderful cause. We also gave a special 50% discount to all people who donated on the day to the boys, when they were displaying their car down in Cronulla.

On the Saturday, we cut Matt’s hair for FREE. He really enjoyed his pampering experience as you can see from the photos.

Rochelle's Country Wedding in the Kangaroo Valley.

16th April 2014

Victoria Spiteri from Syltoria Hair Glamour has been doing Rochelle’s hair for over 5 years. Victoria use to do Rochelle’s hair back when she worked at OZ Hair, Miranda. Rochelle loved the way Victoria did her hair that she followed her to her own salon when she started in in 2011, and has been a loyal client since.

So when Rochelle asked Victoria if she would style her hair for her wedding day, Victoria said “YES”. Rochelle’s wedding was themed Country, and she had the perfect backdrop, saying her vows on a farm down in the Kangaroo.

Everything was perfect, except for the weather. Unfortunately, it rained during the ceremony, but it didn’t dampen the day or Rochelle and her bridal parties beautiful hair.

Rochelle came into the salon for a bridal trial a few weeks before, which made the day run smoothly, as she knew exactly what her hair would look like. Her hair matched the country style, by being in a beautiful bun, all surrounded by fresh flowers.

Rochelle was so happy with her hair and the bridesmaids that she sent Syltoria Hair Glamour this beautiful card:

“Dear Victoria,

Just a quick note to thank you for creating three beautiful hairstyles as well as my own on the morning of our wedding! As always you were friendly and professional, but it meant that much more to me that you were able to do my hair (and travel all the way). I really appreciate it! See you soon!

Rochelle

Hairdresser Sylvana loves Las Vegas.

15th January 2014

Was just flicking through the paper, and look what just got our attention. Co-owner and founder of Syltoria Hair Glamour, Sylvana, has featured in the LEADER READER section.

Sylvana was so excited when the Leader approached her for the story, as she is very proud of her hair salon. We didn’t know when it would be featured, so it was a nice surprise for the New Year. She has already gained celebrity status, by being recognised by the clients. Some of whom have collected the clipping and even laminated it for her.

When asked “What the best part of your role?” Sylvana said:

“I love making people look and feel glamorous and meeting new people. The custmers become my friends, and that’s very satisfying”.

When asked “What is the best piece of advice anyone has even given you?” Sylvana said:

“Follow your passion and if you do, you will love your job. That’s why I have been a hairdresser for 44 years”.

Since starting the business in Sept 2011, Sylvana hasn’t had much time off. Having your own business is a full time job. But if she had a chance to have a holiday, Sylvana said:

“I always love visiting Las Vegas. It’s an adult wonderland. I love the bright lights, live entertainment and shopping”.

Syltoria Hair Glamour helps raise funds for Children suffering from Alopecia!

8th October 2013

Syltoria Hair Glamour are proud to announce that we are now a DESIGNATED HAIR SALON in the Sutherland Shire for the PRINCESS CHARLOTTE ALOPECIA PROGRAM.

Alopecia is an emotionally crippling condition affecting humans in which hair is lost from all areas of the body, most commonly the scalp. For children it can really affect their self-esteem, as it is a condition that makes them look different to other children.

The PRINCESS CHARLOTTE ALOPECIA PROGRAM (PCAP) is an initiative of  "VARIETY- the Children's Charity".

"VARIETY - the Children's Charity" assists these families by purchasing wigs for these children with ALOPECIA ARETA as well as accepting donations of HAIR or MONEY to create more wigs.

The PCAP aims to generate awareness about the condition and assist children through the provision of specialised wigs, to instil confidence, independence and self-esteem.

The whole team at Syltoria Hair Glamour is excited to support this wonderful cause, because our motto is to make everyone "LOOK & FEEL GLAMOUROUS", even children.

We have supported the charity by:

*  BECOMING A DESIGNATED HAIR SALON

This means that anyone who wants to donate their hair can come and get it cut in our salon and we will pass it onto the Variety Club.

Variety needs to have hair at least 30cm in length, and that isn't damaged with hair colour.

Perfect candidates are people who have long hair and haven't changed their hair colour. They also have to be willing to have a RESTYLE.

*  GIVING A 20% DISCOUNT

To encourage people to support this cause, we are going to give anyone who takes the plunge, a 20% Discount off their RESTYLE CUT & BLOW WAVE. The customer can decide if they would like to also donate this saving to the foundation, which we will also arrange on their behalf.

*  PROVIDING A DONATION BOX

For customers whose hair is too short, or aren't ready for a RESTYLE, they can still support this cause by making a financial contribution in our donation box.

If you know anyone who would like to donate their hair or make a donation, please contact Victoria or Sylvana Spiteri at the salon on 9544 0171.

Syltoria Hair Glamour rallys  to Save the Women's Rest Centre at Cronulla.

"Unease at Rest Centre", The St. George & Sutherland Shire Leader, pg 1 & 2 – 3rd October 2013

The future of one of Cronulla's icons is under a cloud, and a fight has begun to save Cronulla Women's Rest Centre from Closure.

Syltoria Hair Glamour has joined forces with other Cronulla businesses, retailers and the community, to support a campaign run by Annette  Hogan, to save this centre from closure. Sylvana (front and centre of picture), the businesses owner, is a strong advocate for this centre and believes it should be saved for the benefit of the elderly, mothers with children and all women in the Cronulla community. These people shop at Cronulla and get their hair done at our salon because of the cleanliness, safety and convenience of these facilities.

Sylvana says "It would be sad to see a part of history taken away, for the sake of the council saving a few dollars.

Syltoria Hair Glamour are very strong in supporting Annette Hogan, who saved this landmark 13 years ago. They have happily signed a petition and are even going to Conucil to put a case forward with Annette to save this part of Cronulla history.

The recommendation to close the centre was contained in Price Waterhouse Coopers strategic review of the Sutherland Shire Council in June 2013. The review suggested numerous cost savings amoung its key recommendation was to exit the Women's Rest Centre at Cronulla.

Syltoria Hair Glamour urges other businesses to do the same thing and support this cause.

To read the full article and vote to save the Centre, please go to:

Here's thinking of you, Mums!

Cronulla Magazine, pg 15 – May 2013

Struggling to find the perfect gift this Mother's Day? As Merry Porter discovered, everything you need to spoil Mum this year is available in Cronulla, and doesn't cost the Earth.

While Cronulla offers plenty of things to choose from, mothers who are a little harder to buy for might enjoy an experience instead.

Even if your wife or mother has a regular hairdresser, a gift voucher to a salon experience may not go astray. Syltoria Hair Glamour know a thing or 2 about spoiling Mum. Thanks for mother and daughter team Sylvana and Victoria, after whom the salon is named.

Julia Spiteri who helps Victoria to manager the salon, said they offer gift vouchers which were perfect for mum. She said a treatment which includes a head massage could be purchased for as little as $15 with any service. Or you could spoil mum with a shampoo, cut and blow dry package for $45 (short hair) to $65 (extra long).

Syltoria Hair Glamour contributes to raising $18,500 for the Biggest Morning Tea!

Thornton Hall, Cronulla – 25th May 2012

It’s an alarming statistic but 1 in 2 Australian’s will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85. We all know someone who is living with this disease, or who has sadly passed because of it.

So when Syltoria Hair Glamour was asked to donate to this year’s Biggest Morning Tea, they didn't hesitate to help this wonderful and worthy cause. The team at Syltoria Hair Glamour had just recently lost a loved one to this terrible disease. Carmen Spiteri, beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother passed in Late November 2012, initially as a result of Ovarian Cancer, which then transposed into Lung Cancer.

Syltoria Hair Glamour proudly donated a $500 Gift Hamper, and 2 x $50 Gift Vouchers (over $600 worth) which was auctioned at the Biggest Morning Tea at Thornton Hall on Friday 25th May. This amount of money helps fund ground breaking research into new and better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.

Every cuppa helps and each year, Julie Giovenco works hard with her team to organise Cronulla’s Biggest Morning Tea. This year Julie and the Cronulla Community raised a massive $18,500 for the Cancer Council. What a tremendous effort! Great work guys, you are truly making a difference!

Front of Cronulla Magazine

A new Star is born in Cronulla!

‘Syltoria Hair Glamour‘- Cronulla Magazine – 10th November 2011

The name says it all. When Sylvana and Victoria Spiteri teamed up to open a hairdressing salon in Mareeba Arcade (Shop 2, 34 Cronulla Plaza), they took the name from the first and last syllables of their names. For Sylvana, opening a hairdressing salon was like returning to her roots, if you’ll pardon the pun.

Sylvana started her career with Graham Thorburn at Cronulla more than 30 years ago and was thrilled when her daughter Victoria showed an interest in hairdressing. Victoria learned to cut hair at her mothers knee and at Gymea TAFE came 1st in her class 2 years in a row.

After gaining experience at a salon at Westfield Miranda, Victoria was ready to strike out on her own. She offers style cuts, creative colour, foils/streaks, perms, bridal and formal hair, makeup and group pampering parties. Not only can you get your hair and makeup done at Syltoria, you can also glamour up with a selection of hair clips, fascinators, earrings, necklaces and bangles.
